Ya Allah, Engkaulah Tuhanku tiada Tuhan melainkan Engkau yang menjadikan aku dan akulah hambaMu dan aku sentiasa dalam genggaman (kuasa)Mu dan aku terikat dengan perjanjian denganMu semampuku. Sesungguhnya aku berlindung kepadaMu daripada kejahatan yang aku lakukan. Aku kembalikan kepadaMu segala nikmat yang Engkau berikan kepadaku dan aku kembali kepadaMu dengan dosaku, oleh kerana itu ampunilah aku, kerana tidak ada yang dapat mengampuni segala dosa kecuali Engkau).

Nabi bersabda, "Sesiapa membacanya pada siang hari dengan penuh keyakinan lalu ia mati pada hari itu sebelum datang petang hari maka ia termasuk dari ahli syurga. Dan sesiapa membacanya pada malam hari dengan penuh keyakinan, lalu ia meninggal dunia sebelum pagi hari maka ia termasuk dari ahli syurga". (Diriwayatkan oleh Imam al-Bukhari)

It was narrated that in the days that the Prophet Musa (alayhi asalaam) wandered with Bani Israel (Children of Israel) in the desert, an intense drought befell them. Together, they raised their hands towards the heavens praying for the blessed rain to come. Then, to the astonishment of Musa (alayhi asalaam) and all those watching, the few scattered clouds that were in the sky vanished, the heat poured down, and the drought intensified.

It was revealed to Musa that there was a sinner amongst the tribe of Bani Israel who had disobeyed Allah (SWT) for more than forty years of his life.

“Let him separate himself from the congregation,” Allah (SWT) told Musa. “Only then shall I shower you all with rain.”

Prophet Musa then called out to the throngs of humanity, “There is a person amongst us who has disobeyed Allah (SWT) for forty years. Let him separate himself from the congregation and only then shall we be rescued from the drought.”

That man waited, looking left and right, hoping that someone else would step forward, but no one did. Sweat poured forth from his brow and he knew that he was the one. The man knew that if he stayed amongst the congregation all would die of thirst and that if he stepped forward he would be humiliated for all eternity.

He raised his hands with a sincerity he had never known before, with humility he had never tasted, and as tears poured down on both cheeks he said, “O Allah, have mercy on me! O Allah, hide my sins! O Allah, forgive me!”

As Musa and the people of Bani Israel waited for the sinner to step forward, the clouds hugged the sky and the rain poured. Musa asked Allah (SWT), “O Allah, you blessed us with rain even though the sinner did not come forward.”

And Allah (SWT) replied, “O Musa, it is for the repentance of that very person that I blessed all of Bani Israel with water.”

Prophet Moses, wanting to know who this blessed man was, asked, “Show him to me O Allah!”

Allah (SWT) replied, “O Musa, I hid his sins for forty years, do you think that after his repentance I shall expose him?”

The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: “My entire nation is safe, except al-Mujahirin (those who boast of their sins). Among the Mujaharah is that a man commits an (evil) act, and wakes up in the morning while Allah has kept his (sin) a secret, he says: ‘O Fulan! Last night I did this and that.’ He goes to sleep while Allah has kept his (sin) a secret but he wakes up in the morning and uncovers what Allah has kept a secret!” [Saheeh al-Bukhari]

Never become carefree after committing a sin.

Hakim al-Umma Shaykh Mawlana Ashraf Ali Thanawi (Allah have mercy on him) said:

The worst effect of committing sin is that due to the casual and careless attitude (of a sinner) a minor (saghirah) sin leads to a major (kabirah) sin and eventually to rejection of the truth (haqq). (That is, kufr).

Thus an individual should never become carefree after committing a sin. He should repent and make amendments.

Basa’ir-e-Hakeemul Ummat 532

A sin by definition is an act that displeases Allah.

How can any degree of displeasure of our Creator and Sustainer be considered to be minor, insignificant or a frivolous thing.

In our present environment we are involved in many activities that are sinful. We observe, hear and think about many things that are sinful. We consider them to be a normal indispensable part of our daily life. We condone them. Most of the practicing Muslims are aware of the rulings regarding them but consider them to be trivial, insignificant and minor slips.

It must be remembered that nisbet e batini ( that is the goal of Tasawwuf: the real, strong, perpetual and mutually friendly relationship with Allah) is impossible with indulgence in any degree of sinful activity.

It is beyond common sense that any one will befriend an individual who considers the displeasure of his beloved to be insignificant, trivial and a casual thing.

At the least we must acknowledge our short comings, make repentance (isteghfara) and ask Allah for assistance in giving them up completely.

Story of a pious woman at the time of Ferawoon

On the Prophet Muhammad's (S.A.W) Night Journey to Jerusalem:

The Prophet (S.A.W) smelled a very nice odor. He asked Jibril about this pleasant scent and Jibril informed him this good smell was coming from the grave of the woman whose duty used to be to comb Pharaoh's daughter's hair.

This woman was a good, pious believer. One day, as she was combing Pharaoh's daughter's hair, the comb fell from her hand. At this she said, "Bismillah." Pharaoh's daughter asked her, "Do you have a god other than my father?" The woman said, "Yes. My Lord and the Lord of your father is Allah." Pharaoh's daughter told her father what had happened. Pharaoh demanded this woman blaspheme and leave Islam, but she refused. At that, Pharaoh threatened to kill her children.

He brought a great pot of water and built a great fire under it. When the water boiled, Pharaoh brought her children and started to drop them into that pot one after the other. Throughout all this, the woman remained steadfast to Islam, even when Pharaoh reached her youngest child--a little boy still breast feeding--but she felt pity for him. At that, Allah enabled this child to speak. He said to his mother, "O Mother, be patient. The torture of the Hereafter is far more severe than the torture of this life, and do not be reluctant, because you are right."

At this the woman requested Pharaoh collect her bones and the bones of her children and bury them in the same grave. Pharaoh promised her that--then dropped her into that boiling water. She died as a martyr.

The good odor the Prophet (S.A.W)smelled coming from her grave is an indication of her high status.

The wasiyyat of Hadhrat Aadam

Hadhrat Aadam (alayhis salaam) bequeathed to his son, Hadhrat Sheeth (alayhis salaam) five advices. He stressed that Hadhrat Sheeth (alayhis salaam) should deliver this wasiyyat to his sons as well. The following are the five advices:

(1) Never have confidence in the world and its life. Allah did not approve of my confidence in Jannat, hence I had to leave.

(2) Never fulfil the desires of women. I succumbed to the desire of my wife, ate of the forbidden fruit of Jannat, hence I was put to shame and remorse.

(3) Before doing anything, reflect well on its consequences. If I had done this, I would not have been put to shame in Jannat.

(4) If your heart is agitated by something, do not do it. When I was about to eat of the forbidden fruit, my heart agitated, but I did not heed it.

(5) Before doing anything consult with people of wisdom. If I had consulted the Angels, I would not have suffered shame.

Description of Paradise

Ibn al-Qayyim said, in regards to the description of the Paradise and the delights that it contains:

"And if you ask about its ground and its soil, then it is of musk and saffron.

And if you ask about its roof, then it is the Throne of the Most Merciful.

And if you ask about its rocks, then they are pearls and jewels.

And if you ask about its buildings, then they are made of bricks of gold and silver.

And if you ask about its trees, then it does not contain a single tree except that its trunk is made of gold and silver.

And if you ask about its fruits, then they are softer than butter and sweeter than honey.

And if you ask about its leaves, then they are softer than the softest cloth.

And if you ask about its rivers, then there are rivers of milk who's taste does not change, and rivers of wine that is delicious to those who drink it, and rivers of honey that is pure, and rivers of water that is fresh.

And if you ask about their food, then it is fruits from whatever they will choose, and the meat of whatever birds they desire.

And if you ask about their drink, then it is Tasneem, ginger, and Kaafoor.

And if you ask about their drinking cups, then they are crystal-clear and made of gold and silver.

And if you ask about its shade, then a fast rider would ride in the shade of one of its trees for a hundred years and not escape it.

And if you ask about its vastness, then the lowest of its people would have within his kingdom and walls and palaces and gardens the distance that would be travelled in a thousand years.

And if you ask about its tents and encampments, then one tent is like a concealed pearl that is sixty miles long.

And if you ask about its towers, then they are rooms above rooms in buildings that have rivers running underneath them.

And if you ask about how far it reaches into the sky, then look at the shining star that is visible, as well as those that are far in the heavens that the eyesight cannot possibly reach.

And if you ask about the clothing of its inhabitants, then they are of silk and gold.

And if you ask about its beds, then its blankets are of the finest silk laid out in the highest of its levels.

And if you ask about the faces of its inhabitants and their beauty, then they are like the image of the Moon.

And if you ask about their age, then they are young ones of 33 years in the image of Adam, the father of humanity.

And if you ask about what they will be hearing, then it is the singing of their wives from among the Hoor al-'Ayn, and better than that are the voices of the Angels and the Prophets, and better than that is the Speech of the Lord of the Worlds.

And if you ask about their servants, then they are young boys of everlasting youth who resemble scattered pearls.

And if you ask about their brides and wives, then they are young and full-breasted and have had the liquid of youth flow through their limbs; the Sun runs along the beauty of her face if she shows it, light shines from between her teeth if she smiles; if you meet her love, then say whatever you want regarding the joining of two lights; he sees his face in the roundness of her cheek as if he is looking into a polished mirror, and he sees the brightness from behind her muscles and bones; if she were to be unleashed upon the World, she would fill what is between the Heavens and the Earth with a beautiful wind, and the mouths of the creation would glorifiy, praise, and exclaim greatness, and everything between the East and the West would be adorned for her, and every eye would be shut from everthing but her, and the light of the Sun would be outshone just as the light of the Sun outshines the light of the stars, and everyone on the face of the Earth would believe in the Ever-Living, the One who Sustains and Protects all the exists.

And the covering on her head is better than the World and all that is in it, and she does not increase with age except in beauty; free from an umbilical cord, childbirth and menses, and pure of mucous, saliva, urine and other filthy things; her youth never fades, her clothing is never worn out, no garment can be created that matches her beauty, and no one who is with her can ever become bored; her attention is restricted to her husband, so she desires none but him, just as his attention is restricted to her so she is the sole object of his desire, and he is with her in utmost safety and security, as none has touched her before of either humans or Jinn.

And if you ask about the Day of Increase (in reward) and the visit of the all-Mighty, all-Wise, and the sight of His Face - free from any resemblance or likeness to anything - as you see the Sun in the middle of the day and the full Moon on a cloudless night, then listen on the day that the caller will call: 'O People of Paradise! Your Lord - Blessed and Exalted - requests you to visit Him, so come to visit Him!' So they will say: 'We hear and obey!'

Until, when they finally reach the wide valley where they will all meet - and none of them will turn down the request of the caller - the Lord - Blessed and Exalted - will order His Chair to be brought there. Then, pulpits of light will emerge, as well as pulpits of pearls, gemstone, gold, and silver. The lowest of them in rank will sit on sheets of musk, and will not see what those who are on the chairs above them are given. When they are comfortable where they are sitting and are secure in their places, and the caller calls: 'O People of Paradise! You have an appointment with Allaah in which He wishes to reward you!' So they will say: 'And what is that reward? Has He not already made our faces bright, made our scales heavy, entered us into Paradise, and pushed us away from the Fire?'

And when they are like that, all of a sudden a light shines that encompasses all of Paradise. So, they raise their heads, and, behold: the Compeller - Exalted is He, and Holy are His Names - has come to them from above them and majestified them and said: 'O People of Paradise! Peace be upon you!' So, this greeting will not be responded to with anything better than: 'O Allaah! You are Peace, and from You is Peace! Blessed are You, O possessor of Majesty and Honor!' So the Lord - Blessed and Exalted - will laugh to them and say: 'O People of Paradise! Where are those who used to obey Me without having ever seen Me? This is the Day of Increase!'

So, they will all give the same response: 'We are pleased, so be pleased with us!' So, He will say: 'O People of Paradise! If I were not pleased with you, I would not have made you inhabitants of My Paradise! So, ask of Me!' So, they will all give the same response: 'Show us your Face so that we may look at it!' So, the Lord - Mighty and Majestic - will remove his covering and will majestify them and will cover them with His Light, which, if Allaah - the Exalted - had not Willed not to burn them, would have burned them.

And there will not remain a single person in this gathering except that his Lord - the Exalted - will speak to him and say: 'Do you remember the day that you did this and that?' and He will remind him of some of his bad deeds in the Worldy life, so he will say: 'O Lord! Will you not forgive me?' So, He will say: 'Of course! You have not reached this position of yours (in Paradise) except by my forgiveness.'

So, how sweet is this speech to the ears, and how cooled are the righteous eyes by the glance at His Noble Face in the Afterlife...

The story of Shaykh Abdullah Al-Andalusi

This is a story filled with lessons and warning, anyone who is in a high position of academic activity or in Tasawwuf or in any other service of Deen will derive benefit and guidance from it. They will learn that it is of utmost importance for one to avoid thinking of others as being inferior to him. They should always remember the advice of Shaykh Shahabuddin Suhrawardi (rah), the spiritual guide of Shaykh Saadi (rah): “Never become self-conceited and never look down upon anyone else.”

This story takes place at a time when piety, trust and righteousness was quite prominent in the lives of the people. In every town there were numerous Ulema and pious men, especially in Baghdad, which at the time was the seat of the Islamic State. It was a gathering place for the jurists, scholars of hadith, and the saints. In this city among all these pious people, was one Abu Abdullah Al-Andalusi (rah), who had thirty khanqahs (spiritual retreats) in Baghdad. In addition he was a well-known scholar and muhaddith and it said that the number of his disciples was 12,000. He knew 30,000 hadith by heart, and could recite the Quran in all the various ‘Qiraats’.

On a certain occasion he was going on a journey and was accompanied with a large crowd of attendants among whom were the well-known Junayd Baghdadi (rah) and Shibli (rah). Hadrat Shibli (rah) continues the story: “Our caravan was travelling along quite nicely, safely and comfortably until we passed by an area where Christians were residing. It was already time for Salaah, but because of the unavailability of water, we had not performed it yet. When we reached the Christian village, a search was made for water. We went about the village and discovered the town had many temples, sun-worshipping altars, synagogues and churches. Some of them worshipped the sun, some were worshipping the fire, and some were directing their pleas at the cross. We passed all this and reached the outskirts of the town, where we found a well and a few girls drawing water for people to drink.”

Shaykh Abu Abdullah’s (rah) eyes fell upon one of the girls who stood out from the rest through her exquisite beauty. She was dressed in beautiful clothes and adorned in jewelry. The Shaykh (rah) asked the other girls who she was. They replied: “This is the daughter of our chief”. The Shaykh (rah) replied: “Then why did her father degrade her to such an extent that she has to sit by the well and give people water to drink?”

The girls replied: “He does not want her to sit around and be proud and boastful of her father’s possessions”. Hadrat Shibli (rah) says: “The Shaykh (rah) sat down with his head bent forward and remained silent like that for three days. At the time of Salaah he would perform his Salaah.” On the third day becoming despondent with his situation, I decided to speak to him. I said: “O Shaykh, your mureeds (disciples) are very worried and perplexed at this continued silence of yours. Please speak to us. What is the problem?”

The Shaykh (rah) replied: “My beloved friends! For how long can I keep my condition hidden from you? My heart has become filled with love for the girl we saw the day before yesterday. So much has this love filled me that it is in control of all my limbs. It is not possible for me under any circumstance to leave from here.” Hadrat Shibli (rah) replied: “Our leader! You are the spiritual guide of all Iraq. You are known for your piety, knowledge and virtues. Your disciples number over 12,000. I beg you through the Holy Quran not to disgrace us.” The Shaykh (rah) replied: “My beloved friends, your lot and my lot has already been sealed by fate. The cloak of sainthood has been removed from me and the signs of guidance have been taken away from me. What has been predestined has come to pass, now I am nothing.” Saying this the Shaykh (rah) started weeping bitterly.

When the people heard of our return, they turned up in large numbers at the outskirts of the city to come and meet the Shaykh (rah) . They saw that he was not with us and asked about it. We told them the entire story. They was a lot of sorrow and crying. Many fell down in prayer begging Allah to guide the Shaykh (rah) to the right path and return him to his former position. In the meantime all the khanqahs were closed down. We were still talking about the Shaykh’s (rah) tragedy one year later when we decided to visit that town again and find out how he was. A group of us set forth and after enquiring were told that he was in the woods looking after pigs. We said: “Allah protect us! What has happened? The villagers told us that he had proposed marriage to the daughter of the village chief. The girls father had accepted the proposal on the condition that he would look after the pigs.”

“With tears streaming down our eyes, we went to the woods where he was rearing pigs. We saw him with a string of sacred beads around his neck. He stood leaning on a staff as he watched the pigs, standing in the same way in which he stood when he used to deliver the Khutbah for us. This was like rubbing salt into our open wounds.”

When he saw us coming towards him he bent his head in shame. We came nearer and said “Assalamu Alaykum.” He replied: “Walaykumus salaam”. Then Hadrat Shibli (rah) asked: “Shaykh (rah) inspite of your knowledge and virtue what is this that has happened to you?” The Shaykh (rah) replied: “My brothers! I am now no longer driven by my own choice and will. Whatever Allah has desired for me, He has done with me. After having brought me so near to His door, He has now thrown me very far away from Him. Who is there that can overturn the decree of Allah? O my brothers, fear Allah’s power and wrath. Never become proud and arrogant regarding your knowledge and virtues. Then turning towards the heavens he said: “O my Lord, I never expected that You will make me so disgraced and despised and send me away from Your door.” Then he began crying bitterly and appealing to Allah.

Seeing the Shaykh (rah) in such hopelessness, they left for Baghdad. However on the way they saw the Shaykh (rah) in front of them coming out of a river, where he had just performed a bath. In a loud voice he said: “I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship besides Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad (sallahu alayhi wa sallam) is the Messenger of Allah”

The Shaykh (rah) asked us for pure clothing to wear. He then started performing Salaah after which he was asked the reason why he was put through such an intense trial? The Shaykh (rah) replied: “When we arrived in the village and saw the temples, synagogues and churches and we saw fire-worshippers busy worshipping things other than Allah, a pride overtook my heart. I thought that these people were so foolish to worship lifeless things. At that time I heard a voice inside me saying: ‘This Iman that you have, in not part of your virtue or good qualities. All this is merely Our favors upon you. Do not consider your faith to be of your own choosing, that you can now look down upon these people with despising eyes. And if you so wish, We will test you now.’ At that moment I felt has if a dove had left my heart and flew away. That was in fact my Imaan.”

Hadrat Shibli (rah) relates: “Thereafter our caravan arrived in Baghdad with great joy all around. All of his mureeds were extremely happy that the Shaykh (rah) had reverted to Islam. He resumed his activities in Tasawwuf, Tafseer and Hadith. The Khanqahs were reopened and in a short while, his mureeds numbered over 40,000.”

Kesan Dari Berpuasa Di Siang Hari Dan Beramal Di Malam Hari

Hadis Nabi saw: Dari Abu Hurairah ra berkata telah bersabda Rasulullah saw, " Barang siapa berpuasa Ramadhon dan berdiri pada malannya dengan penuh iman dan ihtisab akan diampunkan oleh Allah swt segala dosa-dosanya yang lepas." ( Riwayat Bukhari / Muslim)

Diceritakan bahawa tiga bersaudara dari negeri Syam ikut berperang bersama tentera muslimin di dalam satu jihad menentangi tentera Rom. Nasib tidak menyebelahi mereka, ketiga-tiga saudara berkenaan di tawan oleh pasukan musoh lalu dibawa sebagai tawanan perang mengadap Raja Rom ketika itu. Raja Rom meminta mereka murtad dan memeluk agama Kristian dengan ditawarkan dengan jawatan tertinggi serta berkahwin dengan putri baginda. Tawaran Raja Rom berkenaan mereka tolak dengan mentah-mentah.

Di atas penolakkan tawaran berkenaan, Raja menjadi murka lalu memerintahkan agar api dinyalakan serta 3 kawah besar berisi minyak yang dipanaskan. Minyak yang dipanaskan itu dibiarkan mendidih selama tiga hari dan dalam waktu yang sama ketiga-tiga mereka masih lagi ditawarkan dengantawaran berkenaan selama beberpa hari. Namun iman mereka begitu kukuh serta ketiga-tiga mereka menolak tawaran berkenaan. Raja bergitu murka lalu memerintahkan sudara tertua mereka dicampakkan ke dalam minyak panas berkenaan. Hancur luluh badannya dan ianya gugur syahid di Jalan Allah. Kemudian diikuti pula dengan saudara yang kedua. Badannya juga hancur di dlam minyak panas berkenaan serta juga gugur syahid di Jalan Allah.

Ketika sampai pada giliran yang termuda, dia dirayu-rayu agar meninggalkan agama Islam. Apabila dia menolak untuk berbuat demikian, Raja memerintahkan agar dia juga ditolak kedalam minyak yang panas berkenaan. Ketika itu salah seorang pegawai istana berkata, “ Tuanku, patik meminta pemuda ini diserahkan kepada patik agar patik perintahkan putri patik merayu agar beliau meninggalkan agamanya. Semua rakyat di negeri ini mengetahui bahawa putri patik adalah wanita tercantik di negeri ini. Patik juga memahami bahawa bangsa Arab mudah tergoda dengan wanita cantik. Raja bersetuju dengan cadangan pegawainya dan pemuda itu diserahkan kepadanya dengan diberi masa selama 40 hari.

Ketika pemuda itu berada di rumah pengawai istana berkenaan, beliau di tempatkan didalam satu bilik bersama putri pegawai istana berkanaan. Namun selama berada di rumah pegawai istana berkenaan, pemuda berkenaan sentiasa berpuasa di siang hari, manakala di malam hari beliau bangun menghabiskan masa bertahajud dan bermunajat kepada Allah swt. Kesan dari amalan puasa di siang hari dan bertahajud di malam hari, godaan putri pegawai istana berkenaan tidak menggugat iman pemuda berkenaan.

Apabila hampir habis tempoh waktu yang telah diberikan, putri berkenaan masih gagal menggoda pemuda Islam tersebut. Pegawai istana berkenaan bertanya kepada putrinya dengankatanya, “ Mengapa kamu masih gagal menggubah agama pemuda Islam tersebut?”. Jawab putrinya memberi alasan, “ Mungkin pemuda Islam berkenaan terkenang-kenang tentang kematian kedua saudaranya. Alangkah baiknya jika ayah meminta kepada raja agar memberi tempoh masa tambahan. Dalam masa tersebut letakkan kami di satu bilik di tempat yang jauh dari sini. Di sana anakanda akan cuba menggodanya untuk kali yang terakhir.”

Pemintaan putri pegawai istana itu dikabulkan dan kedua-dua mereka di tempatkan di satu tempat yang jauh dari istana di satu tempat yang terpecil. Namun pemuda berkenaan terus berpuasa sepanjang hari dan beribadat sepanjang malam. Kedua-dua mereka berjaya melarikan diri dan putri itu pun memeluk Islam serta berkahwin dengan pemuda Islam berkenaan. Pada malam perkahwinan mereka berdua, pemuda berkenaan bermimpi kedua-dua saudara lelaki beliau yang gugur syahid datang menziarahi perkahwinan beliau. Beliau bertanya kepada mereka bagaimana mereka rasai ketika disiksa oleh Raja Rom berkenaan. Mereka menjawab bahawa ianya hanya sebentar sahaja dan mereka mendapat nikmat yang besar dari Allah swt.

Definition of Suhoor

“In order not to have to wake up early it is common for people to have a meal with the intention of Suhoor straight after the Taraweeh Salaah.

By adopting this course of action one will not receive the full blessings and reward of taking Suhoor.

This is because (by definition) Suhoor refers to that food / meal which is consumed before early dawn in preparation for fasting.”

Benefits of Suhoor

“Amongst the benefits of Suhoor are

1. It is a Sunnah
2. It facilitates strength in worship
3. It facilitates concentration in worship
4. Hunger tends to lead to anger. Suhoor helps prevent this
5. The time of Suhoor is a time when dua is accepted”

Suhoor: a Meal unlike any Another

“Suhoor is a meal but it is unlike any another as it is partaken in order to prepare for fasting.
The great Allamah Aayni rahmatullahi alayh has narrated ahadeeth from 17 different Companions regarding the virtues of Suhoor.

He also states that Suhoor is unanimously seen as a Mustahab action.

Thus even though one may feel that he can do without Suhoor he should take some food with the intention of Suhoor at the appropriate time so that he may also gain its great rewards and blessings.”

A Golden Opportunity before Iftaar

“In Ramadhan we should routinely spend the last 10-15 minutes before the Adhaan for Maghrib in dua.
Each one of us has numerous spiritual, physical and material needs.

Hence we should ask from Allah ta’ala during this period, for it is a time of acceptance.

We should tell ourselves that these moments are a golden opportunity.

And if I let these moments slip from my hands I may not get another chance to reconnect and turn to Allah.”

Blessed Moments

“During Ramadhan one should try to set aside the time between the Salaah of Asar and Maghrib for worship.

Whilst the menfolk tend to attend the Masjid during this period it is also important for the womenfolk at home to engage in worship during these blessed moments.

Read the Salaah of Asar and thereafter engage in recitation of the Qur’aan. Finally spend the last few minutes before sunset in dua.”

Wasting the Time before Iftaar

“Is it not amazing that in the month of Ramadhan the menfolk go early to the Masjid before Maghrib, shed tears in front of Allah ta’ala and have their sins forgiven whilst the women folk spend this precious time preparing food?

If the womenfolk also spend this time in worship at home and the preparation of food is delayed by a few minutes no one will die.

Alternatively if the food is cooked before Asar even then there will be no great harm.

But if we waste the valuable time before Iftaar then we will definitely incur a great loss and suffer great spiritual damage.”

Taraweeh

Shaykh Muhammad Zakariyyah rahmatullahi alayh has stated that it is a consensus of the Ummah to observe Taraweeh in the month of Ramadhan. It is based upon this that Shaykh Abdul Haq Muhadith Dehlawi rahmatullahi alayh commented that if the (Muslim) people of a village were to ignore the Taraweeh Salaah, then the Ameer ul Mumineen should compel them to observe it.

There are two different Sunnah actions encompassed in the Taraweeh Salaah. The first is to perform twenty Rakaah (units) of Taraweeh Salaah daily. The second is to listen to a complete recitation of Qur’aan in the Taraweeh Salaah.

If one has to undertake a journey during the month of Ramadhan, then he should arrange for a Hafiz from whom he can hear the entire Qur’aan (in Taraweeh) during the first few days. This way he will not run the risk of missing out on this Sunnah as a result of his travels which may cause him to read Taraweeh in different places where different amounts of Qur’aan are being read.

Even though the Taraweeh Salaah is not a Fardh it holds a similar status to the Fardh Salaah which are performed with Jamaah. chanel handbags Consequently the Imam for the Taraweeh has to fulfil the same criteria as that which is required of the Imam who leads the normal daily Salaah. Hence it is important to select an appropriate Imam to lead the Salaah of Taraweeh.”

Ramadhan is for Qur’aan

During the era of our pious predecessors public lectures and talks were (rarely) held during this blessed month.

This was because they were not needed as people were already motivated and thus remain engrossed in worship.

If listening to lectures is something which should only be done out of necessity than one can easily
understand why it is essential for one to shun all those acts which divert his attention from worship in this blessed month.”

How to Recite the Qur’aan during the month of Ramadhan

“Most people try to recite the Qur’aan from beginning to end a number of times during the month of Ramadhan.

However what tends to happen with this method is that the initial enthusiasm soon runs out and one’s quantity of recitation decreases, as the days pass by.

By assessing one’s daily timetable and allocating a certain number of slots for recitation one can utilise the following method to help keep motivated and consistent.

For example if one calculates that he has enough time to recite five chapters of the Qur’aan daily then rather than reciting the first five chapters he should recite the first one and quarter chapters four times.

For the first four days one should recite one and a quarter and from the fifth day onwards one chapter a day. This will enable one to finish reciting the Qur’aan by the twenty ninth.

Whilst numerically this will equate to reciting roughly the same amount daily, psychologically one will be forced to keep going because he will know that if he misses a day it will become difficult to catch up. Thus he will be able to force his nafs to complete his daily target.”

In Every Night of Ramadhan

“During the month of Ramadhan one should endeavour to do the following diligently every night:

1. Abstain from sins
2. Perform the Salaah of Maghrib, Eshaa, and Fajr with congregation in the Masjid. (And also perform the Taraweeh Salaah)”

Ask two Things

“Daily in the month of Ramadhan one should take account of the deeds that he has performed that day. He should ask himself two things:

1. Have I done any good deeds today which will attract the Mercy and Forgiveness of Allah ta’ala?
2. Have I committed any sins today which will divert Allah ta’ala’s Mercy and Forgiveness away from me?”

Deprivation of the Negligent

“During heavy rainfall if a person were to complain that he has not been able to collect water then all those around him would say that this is because you were lazy and did not take hold of the opportunity.

Likewise in Ramadhan the Mercy and Forgiveness of Allah ta’ala descends in torrents. And it is only the extremely negligent who remain deprived.”

Make the month of Ramadhan a means of changing your life for the better.

Ramadhan is the season of forgiveness gifted to us by Allah.

Supplications in Ramadhan

“We should make a firm resolution not to waste a single moment of the blessed month of Ramadhan. In all our duas we should ask Allah ta’ala to grant us the ability to value this great opportunity.

The respected Shaykh Haji Farooq rahmatullahi alayh, would comment that Allah ta’ala has said in the Qur’aan that He has made the month of Ramadhan so that the believers may (acquire taqwaa) and become people of Taqwaa.

Thus the respected Shaykh would advise that one should supplicate by saying O Allah, you have made this month of Ramadhan so that I may become muttaqi.

Hence I beseech you to grant me Taqwa and make me from amongst Your friends.”

Throughout the month of Ramadhan turn to Allah ta’ala and say”

O Allah grant me the ability to carry on with the good deeds that I am performing in this month for the rest of my life.

How To Save Yourself From Sin

The most important thing in Ramadhan is that one refrains from every type of sin. And in order to do this a person should concentrate on the following two things:

1) Refrain from mixing. By keeping to himself one is aided greatly in staying away from many sins.

2) Keep occupied at all times. By holding fast to a timetable, a person can make the most of this blessed month and he will be able to accomplish much inshallah.

Berdasarkan Akhbar “Jilan Posten”, kajian terkini Universiti Kopenhagen, Denmark nyatakan bahawa fenomena baru di negara berkenaan mengejutkan banyak pihak. Mereka mendapati sejumlah besar penduduk asli Denmark telah memeluk Islam. Kadar ini sebagaimana laporan CNN yang terbaru beberapa bulan yang lalu melalui laporan “Mapping the Global Muslim Population” yang dibentangkan di dalam “ Forum on Religion & Public Life”.

Dua dari tiga penduduk Islam di dunia tinggal di Asia, ianya bermula dari Turki sampai ke Indonesia. Di Timur Tengah dan Afrika Utara pula, 1 penduduk Islam dari 5 penduduk di dunia dan ianya menduduki peringkat kedua dalam penyebaran Islam.

Sekarang ini, di dunia terdapat lebih dari 1.57 billion adalah Muslim. Manakala penduduk dunia sekarang ini berjumlah 6.8 billion. Ini bermakna bahawa 23% dari keselurohan penduduk dunia adalah Muslim. Jumlah ini menjadi kejutan kepada pengkaji di sana. Ada beberapa negara yang mereka sangka tidak ada Umat Islam, ternyata jumlahnya sangat besar. Ianya seperti India, Russia, dan China.

Dalam pada itu, 2 dari 5 orang Muslim hidup di negara di mana Islam menjadi minoriti. Sesetengah mereka menyangka bahawa kadar jumlah penduduk Islam di Eropa lebih banyak kerana adanya pendatang dari negara Islam jajahan mereka. Ini biasanya berlaku pada bahagian Barat Eropah. Namun begitu di bahagian Timur seperti Russia, Albania, Kosovo, dan sekitarnya adalah penduduk asal Islam. Malah lebih separuh penduduk Islam di Eropah adalah berasal dari keluarga Islam. Mereka juga terkejut jumlah penduduk Islam di Afrika bahagian Sahara berjumlah 240 juta. Ianya adalah 15% dari jumlah keseluruhan Muslim di dunia.

India, negara yang majoritinya penganut Hindu, mempunyai penduduk Islam begitu banyak. Ianya berada di bawah Indonesia dan Pakistan. Ini menujukan bahawa India mempunyai penduduk Islam dua kali ganda penduduk Mesir. Selain itu China mempunyai penduduk Islam lebih banyak daripada Syria. Manakala Jerman memiliki penduduk Islam lebih banyak daripada Lebanon, dan Russia mempunyai penduduk Islam lebih banyak daripada Jordan dan Libya jika keduanya digabungkan. Selain itu 9 dari 10 penduduk Islam dunia adalah Sunni dan 1 adalah Syiah .Satu dari tiga Syi’ah tinggal di Iran, manakala bakinya di Iraq, Azerbaijan dan Bahrain.

Di atas dasar inilah, apabila isu pengharaman purdah di Perancis baru-baru ini menyebabkan beberapa pemimpin gereja memprotes dan tidak bersetuju dengan peraturan baru ini. Kata mereka jika penduduk Islam dihalang dari memakai purdah mereka bimbang kesannya nanti akan menyebabkan kadar keislaman penduduk Islam di sana akan makin bertambah. Mereka mengandaikan bahawa pada 2050 Eropah akan menjadi benua Islam terbesar selain dari Asia.

Ketakutan ini menyebabkan mereka begitu aggerif di dalam menjalankan dakyah kristianisasi di negara dunia ke tiga. Berita beberapa minggu yang lalu kita dapati ramai Pendakyah Kristian dari Gerakan Kristian Sedunia ditangkap di Korea, Haiti, Moroko juga di Padang, Indonesia. Umpamanya di Korea, mengikut agensi berita Yon Hup, Robert Park salah seorang misionaris Kristian ditangkap ketika menjalankan dakyah di Korea Utara. Manakala di Moroko, agensi berita MAP menyatakan seorang misionaris Kristian di tangkap di Haouz Omziz, dekat Marrakech ketika menyampaikan dakyahnya kepada masyarakat Islam di sana. Selain itu juga mengikut agensi berita AFP menyatakan sekumpulan Pendakyah Kristian ditangkap di sempadan Haiti dan Republik Dominikan kerana cuba menyeludup keluar anak-anak mangsa gempa.
Mereka terdesak kerana di Eropah mereka gagal untuk berbuat demikian. Akhirnya mereka beralih kepada negara dunia ketiga serta negara-negara yang dilanda musibah bencana alam. Hakikatnya kebenaran agama mereka telah terhakis dan jelas sebenarnya adalah kebatilan.

Di pihak kita selama mana dakwah dijalankan selama itu pintu-pintu hidayat akan terbuka kepada sesiapa sahaja. Malah selama kita mengurbankan diri dan harta kita di Jalan Allah selama itu jugalah pintu-pintu hidayat pasti akan terbuka sehingga kesatu tahap ianya akan memasuki rumah-rumah mereka-mereka yang menjadi penentang pun akan sampai hidayat.

Apakah petanda di Eropah menunjukkan bahawa kita telah hampir kesatu tahap penghujung sebagaimana hadis Nabi saw riwayat Muslim (Sahih Muslim) bahawa Konstantinopel (Astanah atau Istanbul) akan diserbu oleh pasukan dari Bani Ishaq (Ahli Kitab) yang memasukinya pada akhir zaman. Mereka berhasil menaklukinya dengan teriakan “la ilaha Illallah”?

Wasted when we do anything without sincerity. Intentions count.

9. Service:
Wasted when in service of someone who will not bring us closer to Allah.

10. Dhikr:
Wasted when it does not have an effect on our hearts.

Al-Hasan al-Basri (21-110 AH/642-728 CE) was an influential Muslim scholar and ascetic of the Tabi'een (the generation that succeeded the Sahabah). 8) Apabila dakwah ditinggalkan maka, generasi masa hadapan yang lahir dengan shahwat mereka meninggalkan solah (kami minta lindungan dari Allah).

9) Nahi munkar = indirect (major)/ direct (minor)

10) Dalam diri kita sendiri ada bukti kekuasaan dan kehebatan Allah yang ditunjukkan.

11) Tidak pergi ke sekolah pun boleh cerita kebesaran dan kehebatan Allah.

12) Perkataan yang betul untuk guna ‘kalau’ adalah supaya kesalahan yang sama tidak berulang semula. Jangan buka ruang pintu syaitan dengan menggunakan ‘kalau’ dengan cara yang salah.

13) Rasa kematian adalah sama seperti dicincang dengan 1000 pedang, namun seorang yang syahid umpama rasa gigitan semut.

14) Apabila kita ada takluk dengan seseorang, kita suka/ rindu nak jumpa. Adakah hati kita ada takluk kepada Allah?

15) Setelah habis ilmu manusia maka bermulalah ilmu anbia’ ‘alaihimusollatu wassalam.

16) Mana yakin kita kepada kehidupan Rasulullah?

17) Allah telah letakkan keredhaan/ janji-Nya pada cara nabi dan yang golongan yang mengikuti nabi.

The Importance of Fixing a Time for Daily Tilawah

“A person once told me that he was so busy that he did not have any time for daily recitation of the Qur’an. I put the point to him that he did not possess a true appreciation of the Qur’an or a true sense of its importance. We all have countless things to do every day, yet if we can do them but not have time for the Qur’an, it is a sign that we do not give the Qur’an its due importance.

I advised the person to develop a sense of the Qur’an’s greatness in his heart by studying the ahadith pertaining to the status and virtues of the Qur’an. I then advised him to fix a definite time of day, bearing in mind his other commitments, solely for tilawah. He chose to do his tilawah after ‘Isha salah. I told him not to leave the masjid after ‘Isha without having completed his tilawah. Some time afterwards, I learned that he had become punctual in his tilawah.

So we all need to do these two things: 1) realise the greatness of the Qur’an; 2) fix a time for daily tilawah and stick to it.

Beware of the tricks of the nafs in this regard; take the example of someone who, after reaching the masjid, has ten minutes in which he can engage in tilawah. He thinks to himself that ten minutes is insufficient to complete one juz, and his nafs persuades him to do his tilawah afterwards when he has enough time.

This is a trap, for the ‘afterwards’ promised by the nafs will never come! If he had made use of those ten minutes and recited as much as possible, chanel handbags he would have been well on his way to completing his daily tilawah. By following the devious nafs he deprived himself completely of any tilawah.

Treat your nafs as you would your child: without fixing a time every day for your child to attend maktab to study, he/she will not be able to learn. Similarly, without forcing your nafs to do certain things at certain times, you will not get it to do what you want.”

Contrary to popular belief, the tree whose fruit Adam and Eve ate was not necessarily an apple tree.

Scholars disagree over the type of the tree. Some people have tried to determine its type by looking into books of hadith, athaar, and the Bible.

But is this issue worth all the debate? Imaam Abu Ja'far at-Tabaree, who was a Mufassir (scholar of tafsir), didn't think so:

وذلك عِلمٌ، إذا عُلم لم ينفع العالمَ به علمه، وإن جهله جاهل لم يضرَّه جهلُه به

"For such type of knowledge: If one knows it, then his knowledge of it doesn't benefit him, and if one is ignorant of it, then his ignorance of it doesn't harm him."*

There are other examples of trivial details that we need to ignore. For example Allah (swt) in Suratul Kahf (chapter 18 of the Quran) talks about how people debated about the number of the Men of the Cave, but after mentioning this He doesn't tell us their real number,chanel handbags because it is not important. Instead He asks us not to dwell on it.

We can look at the Quran to find out what Allah (swt) wants us to focus on. For example, Allah (swt) keeps reminding us of the Day of Judgment, and He keeps describing Paradise and Hell. When Allah constantly reminds us of something, it means He wants us to think about it.

* Don't busy yourself with trivial details that have no benefit for you in this life or the Hereafter. It wastes your time and makes you ignore more important matters.

Mujâhid said: “Beautiful patience is patience without any panic.” ‘Amr ibn Qays said: “Beautiful patience means to be content with adversity and to surrender to the will of Allâh.”

Yûnus ibn Yazîd said: I asked Rabî‘ah ibn Abu ‘Abdur-Rahmân: “What is the ultimate of patience?” He said: “To be outwardly the same at the time of affliction as one was the day before it struck.” (This does not mean that a person does not or should not feel pain or anguish; patience in this instance means that one refrains from panicking and complaining.)

"Whoever tries to be patient, Allah will make him patient. And nobody can be given a better and greater gift than patience."

KELEBIHAN SURAH AL-MULK

Surah Al Mulk adalah surah keamanan dan keselamatan, kerana ia menyelamatkan pembaca-pembacanya dari siksa kubur. Sejarah telah membuktikan seperti yang berlaku di zaman Rasulullah Shallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam. Ibnu Abbas menceritakan:

"Pernah suatu ketika setengah para sahabat berkhemah di atas kubur. Mereka sebenarnya tidak menyangka tempat itu adalah kubur. Setelah beberapa ketika berada di dalam khemah, mereka tiba-tiba terdengar suara orang membaca Surah Al Mulk dari mula hinggalah akhirnya. Suara itu datangnya dari dalam tanah. Tahulah mereka, sebenarnya mereka sedang berkhemah di atas kubur. chanel handbags Kemudian hal itu diadukan kepada Rasulullah Shallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam lalu baginda bersabda yang bermaksud: "Surah Al Mulk adalah surah pelepasan kerana ia menghindar pembacanya dari azab neraka."

Meskipun begitu, Surah Al Mulk juga mempunyai kelebihan-kelebihan yang lain. Di sini penulis bentangkan sebahagian daripadanya sahaja. Diantaranya:

1. Abu Hurairah meriwayatkan hadis, katanya yang bermaksud: "Sesungguhnya di dalam Al-Quran itu, ada satu surah yang mengandungi 30 ayat, ia mensyafaat bagi lelaki yang membacanya. Maka selagi mana lelaki itu membacanya, selagi itu pula ia meminta ampun unutuknya. Surah itu ialah surah Al Mulk."

2. Rasulullah Shallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam bersabda yang bermaksud: "Surah Al Mulk itu memelihara dan menghindarkan pembacanya dari azab kubur."

3. Rasulullah Shallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam bersabda yang bermaksud: "Aku sungguh gembira, sekiranya orang mukmin sentiasa membaca surah Al Mulk sehingga seolah-olah surah itu tertulis di dalam hatinya."

4. Rasulullah Shallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam bersabda yang bermaksud: "Barangsiapa membaca surah Al Mulk setiap malam, diselamatkannya dari azab kubur."

5. Rasulullah Shallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam bersabda yang bermaksud: "Sesiapa membaca surah Al Mulk pada mana-mana malam, nescaya datang ke dalam kuburnya surah itu sebagai pengganti untuk bersoal jawab dengan Munkar Nakir.

6. Rasulullah Shallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam bersabda yang bermaksud: "Sesungguhnya di dalam Al-Quran ada satu surah yang terkandung 30 ayat. Surah itu ialah surah Al Mulk. Ia akan datang kepada pembacanya untuk membantu bersoal jawab dalam kubur sehinggalah mereka selamat masuk ke dalam Syurga."

7. Rasulullah Shallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam bersabda yang bermaksud: "Sebahagian surah-surah yang terdapat di dalam Al-Quran ada satu surah yang mengandungi 30 ayat. Surah itu surah Al Mulk. Ia memberi syafaat kepada orang yang membacanya dengan mengeluarkannya dari Neraka dan memasukkannya ke dalam Syurga."

8. Ulama berkata: "Sesungguhnya Rasulullah Shallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam tidak akan beradu melainkan setelah membaca surah As Sajadah dan surah Al Mulk."

9. Ulama berkata: "Sesungguhnya surah Al Mulk itu melepaskan pengamal-pengamalnya dari kena azab. Ia akan bersoal jawab pada hari kiamat di hadapan tuhan kerana menuntut kelepasan mereka yang mengamalkannya dari azab api Neraka."

10. Saiyidina 'Ali berkata: "Barangsiapa mengamalkan surah Al Mulk, nescaya dibawa ia pada hari kiamat di atas sayap malaikat serta wajahnya yang cantik seperti nabi Yusuf."

11. Ulama berkata: "Sesungguhnya surah Yasin dan surah Al Mulk terkandung di dalamnya beberapa rahsia dan kelebihan. Barangsiapa mengamalkannya nescaya ia mendapat rahsia-rahsia dan kelebihan-kelebihan itu serta dikasihi oleh semua manusia dan juga menjadi hebat pada pandangan makhluk."

12. Saiyidina 'Abdullah bin Abbas berkata: "Barangsiapa membaca surah Al Mulk sehingga menjadi amalan wiridnya, nescaya ia mendapat bantuan dan pertolongan dari Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala di dalam kuburnya. Bila azab hendak datang ke pihak kepala, terdengar satu seruan: "Tidak boleh engkau datang ke pihak kepala ini kerana ada surah Al Mulk."
Begitulah keadaanya bila azab itu pergi ke pihak kaki dan perutnya. Kerana semuanya mengandungi surah Al Mulk."

No Wazīfa* is more effective than Duā’ (Suplication).

In a discourse Maulāna Ashraf Ali Thānvi rehmatullāhi alayh said,

One person has sent a letter that he is indebted and needs an effective wazīfa. I replied that there is no better wazīfa in effect than Dua’.

People have stopped asking Allāh. The connection between the slave and Allāh has weakened a lot. The perception of people in this matter is very corrupt, and one thing which is even more harmful than this is when the wazīfa does not work, they start to doubt the ability of the verses of Allāh. This further corrupts ones belief.

All this is because of the ignorant Āmilīn (expert in issuing wazīfa). All they learn is to give a wazīfa for every little thing. They do not even see if the person is capable or not. Over and above that, while they issue these wazāif they use such a confident tone that the questioner becomes sure that the problem will be solved through this measure, and there is no doubt in it.

Now if what was destined is contrary to what they hoped for, then the belief of such an individual comes in great danger. His belief in the verse of Allāh weakens. The result of such a weakened belief ought to be that the dua’ doesn’t get accepted.

Look, the matter is very simple. If we give $2.00 to someone per month and then we find out that he doubts our ability to give him that money, then such bad thoughts (regarding us) will cause us not to give him any money at all. chanel handbags But Allāh is so merciful that He hears all the hue and cry and yet continues to give the sustenance. Do you find yourself in need of Allah's mercy? Here is how you can get it:

اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

"Be conscious of Allah so that you may be given mercy." [Holy Quran, 49:10]

Hazrat Maulana [Shabbir Ahmad Usmani] (ra) used to say that if Haqq [a truthful word], in a truthful [proper] manner [of conveying], with a truthful [sincere] intention, is said, then it will never cause fitna. But there are these three conditions, first is that what is being said is the truth, second is that the intention is correct, and the third is that the manner [of conveying the message] is proper.

So if you happen to see anywhere that due to speaking the truth some fitna is arising, or any dispute or argument, then know that from amongst these 3 conditions a condition was unfulfilled: either the message was not the truth; or the niyyah was improper, as the message was the truth but was said with a wrong intention. [For example] the purpose was to show-off or to make oneself be seen as higher, chanel handbags or to lower another; so the niyyah was wrong. Or if the niyyah was also correct then the method [by which the message was conveyed] was incorrect.

If the method was correct, the niyyah was correct, and the message was the truth then it would not have caused fitna. Eventually at one time or another, [the message] would have had its effect but it would not have created fitna.

Dato Razali dies - to Allah we belong and to Allah we return

It was shocking when I received an sms at about 7.15 this evening. Dato Razali dies after collapsed while playing badminton. Considering he was very kind towards everyone, I feel a very great loss. He's a charismatic leader and very ordinary person. chanel handbags Approachable and easygoing. I admire his character and humility. I know him very well before he become a deputy minister.

He is the kind of leader I love to have. Serious in work, well-educated and honest. He's on his way to be the full Education Minister. Past and Future

In my childhood, the raining season is a festive moment full of joyous activities and fun. We built raft, catching frogs to use as fishing baits, diving in river and setting ‘tauk’, a small bamboo stick fish trap put in a wet paddy field. Early after dawn, we went to see if some of the ‘tauks’ whether we’re successful or not. It was 30 years behind.

Today, our kids don’t know how to make a raft, tauk or catch frogs at the river bank. But, chanel handbags they knows how to play ‘Jin Online’, one of the famously internet games nowadays.
